On September 10, Dassault Systemes announced the latest release of their software, SolidWorks 2013. SolidWorks includes electronic CAD software, PDM software, cam software and much more. The new program, which was created based on users' input, offers a wide variety of features that will enhance use.
"With SolidWorks 2013, we’ve upheld our tradition of listening to our customers by providing enhancements and functionality to help them simplify their lives and create the best products,” said SolidWorks CEO Bertrand Sicot.
The new software has over 200 enhancements that were requested by customers.
A new intersect feature of SolidWorks 2013 allows users to add geometry automatically without sketching and helps users to easily make multiple bodies and surfaces, according to Cadalyst. The new software also allows for faster model making. It's much more efficient than the last model, according to Cadalyst. A dashboard has been implemented as well, which will aid designers, according to Eureka
“SolidWorks allows me to get my job done faster than any other CAD package on the market,” said Robert Conley, owner of a business that uses ECAD. “In my line of work, I have to get jobs done quickly to make a profit, and SolidWorks allows me to do that."
Improved performance and fast model creation are not the only impressive features of the software. It also offers enhanced collaboration, so that designs can be shared. According to Eureka, many computers can support large computational loads in PhotoView 360, a rendering that spans networks. Additionally, users will be able to open old files, as the software will be compatible with SolidWorks 2012.
